Dr. Rajiv Panikkar is Chair of the Geisinger Cancer Institute, a multispecialty oncology practice serving the majority of central and northeast Pennsylvania. He leads several large clinical practice groups across 11 hematology/oncology, 6 radiation oncology and 4 palliative medicine sites in the state. He also serves as the Principal Investigator of Geisinger Cancer Institute’s National Cancer Institute Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP) award, a collaborative network designed to conduct oncology clinical trials and generate new knowledge through cancer care delivery research. In 2016 he led the establishment of the Center for Oncology Research and Innovation (CORI) to align oncology research, innovation, analytics and education. CORI maintains a broad and growing project portfolio that involves the conduct of clinical trials, cancer care delivery research, advanced data analytic programs, care redesign implementations and a focus on patient and family engagement. He leads the clinical oncology programs which leverage Geisinger’s high quality patient care; fully integrated healthcare system; large, stable patient population; advanced electronic health record; and clinical data warehouse to advance cancer care while also developing novel value-based delivery models.
