Dr. Derek Gyori was born and raised in Oregon, Ohio and earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Findlay College of Pharmacy in 2016. Derek completed his PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio before moving to Indianapolis, Indiana for his PGY2 Hematology and Oncology Pharmacy Residency at the Indianapolis VA Medical Center. Currently, he is an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Toledo College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and Ambulatory Hematology and Oncology Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at the Eleanor N. Dana Cancer Center. His practice interests include ambulatory hematology and oncology, oral chemotherapy, supportive care, academia, and medication safety. Derek precepts and co-coordinates the Residency Research Certificate Program at the University of Toledo Medical Center. Derek is involved and holds board positions in multiple pharmacy organizations including the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, National Community Oncology Dispensing Association (Editorial Board), Hematology and Oncology Pharmacy Association (Burnout and Wellness Task Force), Toledo-Area Society of Health-System Pharmacists (2019-2020 Charles I Hicks Pharmacist of the Year Award, 2022-Present OSHP Liaison), Ohio Society of Health-System Pharmacists (2019-2022 Membership, Marketing, and Media Division Director), and American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (2020 New Practitioner Pharmacist Leadership Development Grant). He has served as adjunct faculty at the University of Findlay College of Pharmacy and Purdue University College of Pharmacy. He enjoys spending time with his friends and family, his labradoodles (Toby and Tucker), completing home improvement projects, and running half and full marathons in his spare time.
