Evelyn Handel is the Director of Drugs & Biologics Programs at the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) in the Philadelphia, PA area.
In this role, she collaborates with a multidisciplinary team and is responsible for the oversight and management of the Drugs & Biologics Programs including the NCCN Drugs & Biologics Compendium and the NCCN Chemotherapy Order Templates, which are derivative products of the NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology. Additional responsibilities include partnering with licensees to integrate and ensure accurate representation of NCCN Compendium and Template information in 3rd party electronic information systems including electronic health records (EHR) and clinical decision support tools. She also facilitates the NCCN Pharmacy Directors Forum and provides oversight for the multidisciplinary NCCN Chemotherapy Order Templates (COT) Committee.
Prior to joining NCCN, Evelyn was an Oncology Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center working with the inpatient and outpatient solid tumor services. Previously, she also worked as a Clinical Pharmacist rotating between the hematology, oncology, and stem cell transplant teams at the University of Virginia Hospital.
Evelyn earned her Doctor of Pharmacy and Bachelor of Science in Biology degrees from Ohio Northern University. She then completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Oregon Health & Science University followed by a PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy Residency at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center. She has achieved Board Certification as a Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) and as an Oncology Pharmacist (BCOP).
She is an active member of the Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association (HOPA) and the International Society of Oncology Pharmacy Practitioners (ISOPP). She is currently serving as the vice-chair of the HOPA Patient Education Committee, and has just recently started a two-year term as President of the ISOPP Secretariat (2022-2024).
