Mayret Gonzalez Clinical Pharmacist Dr. Mayret Gonzalez is currently the Cardio-oncology subject matter expert clinical pharmacist at the Miami Cancer Institute for Baptist Health South Florida (BHSF). She completed a PGY-1 residency at the Homestead Hospital BHSF and has since specialized within Oncology for the last 3 years of her career. She is currently board certified in Pharmacotherapy. She is passionate about Cardiology, Oncology, and Emergency Medicine.
Lauren Fay Clinical Nutrition Manager Lauren Fay is a Registered Dietitian currently practicing as a Clinical Nutrition Manager of Inova Schar Cancer Institute and Life with Cancer nutrition team. Lauren is a native of the Northern Virginia area, and graduated from James Madison University with her bachelor’s degree in Dietetics. She completed her Dietetic Internship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, and has spent the majority of her career supporting the nutrition needs of oncology patients in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. Lauren is a board-certified advanced practice (AP) dietitian, in addition to being board-certified in oncology nutrition (CSO) and nutrition support (CNSC). Lauren is currently working towards her master’s degree in public health with a focus on health policy from George Mason University. In her current position, Lauren manages a team of eight oncology dietitians, in addition to providing nutrition counseling and recommendations to help support the nutrition needs of patients and caregivers before, during, and after cancer treatment. Lauren utilizes a combination of nutrition education, diet and behavior modification, as well as assistance with the management of nutrition support (tube feedings and parenteral nutrition) when needed. Using evidence-based information, Lauren can help clarify the complex topics related to nutrition and cancer to help alleviate confusion and stress.
